Power In The Blood was recorded in Toronto with three producers: Michael Phillip Wojewoda (Barenaked Ladies, Rheostatics), Jon Levine (Nelly Furtado, K'naan, Serena Ryder) and Chris Birkett (Sinéad O'Connor, Talking Heads). Alongside new orginal tracks that touch on "the sanctity of life, the splendour of Mother Nature and scathing political and social commentary," are the opening cut "It's My Way," a re-recording of the title track from her 1964 debut album, and "Power in the Blood," a collaboration with electronic group Alabama3. Buffy originals "We Are Circling" and "Generation" get a modern redux while she makes UB40's anti-apartheid "Sing Our Own Song" her own. The album ends with the uplifting "Carry It On" confirming her belief that good will triumph. Power In The Blood is the 2015 Polaris Prize winner as the most important Canadian album of the year.
